Pregnancy and Labor Support

My basic doula service provides support through your pregnancy and birth. During our prenatal visits, we will write a birth plan together, discuss any fears or wishes you have for your birth, and practice some comfort measures. I am prepared and thorough; I provide my clients with a “birth plan” template, a recommended reading list, and multiple comfort measure supplies.

Throughout our working relationship, I am available by phone 24 hours/day for questions and concerns. I am officially “on-call” for two weeks before and two weeks after your due date, though I would definitely try and make arrangements to attend a preterm labor if your baby came before the official two week window.

When labor begins, I typically meet the laboring mom at home whenever she feels that she needs support, go to the hospital or birth when she is ready, and stay until after the baby is born. During a follow-up visit, I “process” the birth experience with the new parents and go over any concerns, in addition to just enjoying the company of a new baby!

What do your basic doula services include?

• An initial “meet the doula” visit (usually at a coffee shop)
• Two prenatal visits in your home
• Unlimited phone support during pregnancy
• Unlimited birth support (so far the record is over 36 hours!)
• Comfort measure supplies
• New baby follow-up visit

What do doula partner services include?

Due to my responsibilities as a graduate student of nursing, I will be working in a doula partnership during the academic calendar year. My partnering doula is Nicole Stecker. We are very like-minded in both philosophy and doula practice. Both Nicole and myself attend all prenatal visits of our joint clients, both of us are on call, and one of us attends the birth. (The baby’s birth day determines which of us attends the birth.) This is not the same as a “backup” doula, who the client may have not met before. Since we are both the prenatal doulas, the relationship building takes place with both of us before the baby’s birth.
Investment: $200 fee added to any “Mama Bella” doula package




In addition to my work as a doula, I am a professional photographer. There has been no better fusion between media and birth than being able to photograph pregnant bellies, births, and new babies! My doula clients receive discounted rates on pregnancy, birth, and infant photography services, and I offer various combinations of services and styles to meet your archival needs and budget.

Doula services are not sales-taxable, but photography services are. Minnesota sales tax is added onto the photography portion of all packages.
